Summer Heat & Knitted Fashion

Hot sun is keep digging in my skin and I have feeling that it goes right to my bones. Let me tell you, I'm looking forward to autumn again. I think it's my favorite time of a year anyway, well maybe spring could be concurrence. I spent my last september in Canada and I miss the weather those days here. I know, I'm back, but I'm leaving the last day of August, so maybe I'll miss nice cool weather here. Well, whatever.

At least I started to learn knitting, cooler days will come soon and I have to be prepared.
Which reminds me another thing I wanted to share. I was reading through Vogue.com and found out that knitted goods are very actual for this fall/winter season. Right on time, don't you think?

Canada, Wild Animals and Sweden

So as I previously mentioned, I'm spending my summer in Canada, again.
I won't be talking about what I've seen already, what I'm doing here and what I'm planning to do, because also I still want to keep some things just for myself. Let's just say: I'm practicing my english and eating fruit. Lot's of fruit, because, man, it's so delicious here. Not like those frozen grown strawberries without any flavor, sour peaches, that you don't want to eat them anymore. Hmmm

School is starting soon and I have chance to enjoy my last summer with all benefits it brings. Relax, got little bit of experience from other culture, open my eyes little bit widely.

But let me tell you something about my obsession last couple weeks. I became really amused by wild animals. I'm not talking about lions, tigers, elephants. I mean more like forest animals from up north. Did you ever noticed how gorgeous deers are? And birds? And now try to imagine it as a design in regular life. Sounds like a kitsch? Well not to me anymore.
I took those seagulls pictures at the waterfront of Ontario lake and thinking about hanging it, once I get back to Prague and I would like your opinion people. Is that something you might want to have at home?

And now about Sweden. I've never been there, that's something I must tell first. We would have a chance at my secondary school, because every year one class goes there. We were probably that bad , they didn't take us there and rather take other class.
Anyway, thinking about this country makes me wonder how they are so successful in everything they do. I mean look at Ikea, H&M, ABBA... But what I think Sweden is most successful in? Design.
I'm reading some design blogs from this country, let me correct myself, I'm not reading, just looking at pictures because as much as I want to, I don't speak their language. It's very inspirational, so if you're now in design, home reconstruction, I have some links for you...

My Biggest Apologies

Dear readers,

I've been a bad blogger. I don't write that often as I should, got little bit lazy and with no inspiration. I admit that, to you.

It has been couple weeks and I've been busy by making and finalizing my portfolio, which I'm not sure if I should post, and traveling across the ocean, which I'll mention later. Now when I got ill, the weather, my mood finally pushed me to post something.

Enjoy a little bit from my history... you know portfolio and stuff...

Welcome 2010/2011

Pictures in this post by R.G.

Well so it's finally here and I'm officially not unemployed, I am a Student! I got ISIC, my health insurance is being paid since now, and it feels... GREAT. Finally my life has a meaning again and I became part of something. After my parents divorce, me living with my sister I really don't know where I belong. Now I know.
School starts October 4th, so I get 3 months of summer holidays, even someone could consider my last year as a big holiday.

I almost forgot to tell you, dear readers, that next week I'm flying to Canada for two months. I get to see my "american family" , friends and most important, my darling will show me his country. You have no idea how excited I am now.

Being busy for last couple weeks I haven't write how my knitting story continues, but I'm about to finish this week, so keep your fingers crossed.

Happy Summer My Dears...
Tereza

P.S. For those living in Canada, Happy Canada Day!!! With delay...

Knitting & Rainy Afternoons

I don't know if it's the volcano from Iceland or just coincidence but in last month we had only three days of sun. Temperatures are the same as they were in March, so I started to be little bit desperate to get warm and decided to learn knit. Well my mother used to be good at it, but she was never willing to teach me.
I turned on my computer and found some YouTube tutorials how to knit and found some show where very crazy girl teach young kids to do that and guess what, it's actually pretty good. Next day I went to buy bamboo needles and some wool and started pretty big scarf to warm up my upper body. Don't worry I will post result, but when I'm finished. Unfortunately I'm very slow, so it will take a time. Check my blog in September...

Look what I did so far. Well stitches are pretty random, but this is a first time, so play nice, people...

The Gift

In our lives we have to deal with situations. Sometimes, they are pleasant and sometimes they are not. But they both have something common - they gives us a lesson. Last couple weeks I had to deal with both cases and believe me I'm glad I have a day off and I can just write...

The pleasant part is, that I have my man much closer than over the ocean. I was a little busy showing him my country and being rude to him (mostly in the mall and I apologize for that) but now he went to travel and I'm in the mood for doing something.

Well Tereza, stop writing personally and tell what you want to tell...

My dearest gave me a gift. It's not just a gift to me, it's THE GIFT. If you have read previous posts, you might noticed, I've been applying for art school in Prague and yes, I wrote about it a lot. Anyway I found that the main artist in the studio, leading professor of the studio wrote a book. Well not novel or anything, it's just cut of his work, with opinions of other people in the art field and my dad promised me to give me this book if I'll be accepted. Well I was, but my dad is going through the hard times now so I didn't even want to remind him, he promised that. Well it's an expensive book and as a reward for being student again I'll go to Canada for a summer, got another experience. Anyway when I came home after weekend, I found a wrapped gift on my bed and go figure, it was The Book.
Something I really really wanted for a long time. First of all it's important for me to read about work of my professor soon to be, don't you think? Second it's pretty well made book with beautiful prints and third - the cover is heat sensitive, so when you hold it for a longer, you can see your hand printed on it.
You have no idea how happy it made me, silly I know.

Well I took some pictures, so I can at least partly share with you guys, but some pictures are crappy, it's getting darker outside...

Highlighted parts are made by local painting transparent paint.

I admit I've been playing only with a cover for two hours...
